About

Wayward Woods is a game by Salt Rock Studios made over the course of our senior year at Bradley University. It follows a young wizard's apprentice named Almond trapped within a book and pit against its inhabitants. Wayward Woods features grid-based movement and a variety of spells and equipment to choose from, both in which the player must utilize in order to guide Almond through turn-based combat and to the end of the game's three levels.

I programmed in all of the game's spells! From equipping spells to casting them, I handled all of the spells' functionality. This similarly included working on the grid's intractability such as when it came to selecting enemies to target and selecting tiles to create a path for the Gale Barricade and Wind Current spells.

Wayward Woods was displayed at the Peoria Riverfront Museum for Bradley University's FUSE showcase in April 2026. As of May 21, 2026, Wayward Woods has even been released on Steam. My time spent on Wayward Woods required my cooperation with my teammates and ability to manage myself in such a way that would move the project along as efficiently as possible. By now, I have grown more than accustomed to working with all kinds of people on large teams as well as working within a strict time limit, and Wayward Woods had been a huge step forward for me in this regard. I look forward to applying all that it and Bradley University had taught me for many more projects to come.
